Seven Letters

Gary DeLashmutt
Revelation 3

Jesus dictates seven letters through John, the Apostle. These letters, while originally addressed to seven churches, hold timeless truths that apply to us now. They cover what it looks like to have an imbalance when relating to Jesus, to be dangerously self deceived in our relationship with Jesus, and what it looks like to see real success when persevering in tough circumstances. Those who are faithful and overcome will one day be rewarded.

In the World, But Not Of the World

Dennis McCallum
John 17

Jesus knows that his departure is close at hand. In light of this, he prays to the Father, acknowledging that his disciples are not of the "kosmos" or system of the world, though they will be witnesses to the world. Other sections of scripture, 1 John 2:15 and 1 Corinthians 9:19 provide practical content on areas in which Christians should adopt the practices of the world/culture, and areas in which Christians should be different from the world and culture.

In the World, But Not Of the World

1 Corinthians 9:19

Jesus knows that his departure is close at hand. The Upper Room

Dennis McCallum
John 13:1-17

Practicing a self-sacrificial, others-centered lifestyle is actually far more fulfilling and joyful than living a life serving self. Christ was the ultimate example of this as he chose to take the role of a lowly servant and washed his disciples' feet the night before his death.

The Good Shepherd

Dennis McCallum
John 10

God's method of leadership is through serving. Through God's example of servant leadership, we can understand the type of leaders He calls us to be. 1) We should influence others relationally, 2) we should lead by example through modeling, 3) we should invest in people deeply, 4) we should love sacrificially, 5) God will never abandon us, and so 6) we should never abandon our people.

Make Love Your Lifestyle

Jim Leffel
Galatians 6:6-10

As we grow in our love towards others, there are three principles for developing a loving lifestyle: 1) understanding that what we feed grows, whether we sow to the flesh or to the spirit; 2) the reward of enduring and doing good without losing heart; and 3) seizing the opportunities God places in our lives to do good to others. Living out a lifestyle of sacrificial love is rewarding not just in this life, but even more so in the next.

Fulfilling the Law of Christ

Jim Leffel
Galatians 6:1-5

The Law of Christ can be seen through our ability to lovingly restore other Christians, as well as bear others burdens. We are called to bear burdens, while helping others learn how to bear their own loads and learn how to walk according to the Holy Spirit and grow spiritually. As we invest in deep love relationships, God is able to use us in others lives to draw closer to Him and see real transformation.

Seeker Small Group

Mark Ashton
Galatians 6:1-5

In our culture today, people are seemingly becoming less interested in Christianity, seen through the declining numbers of church growth in America. Seeker small groups, however, target the meeting and discussion around people who are not believers in Christ. A group like this would have a majority of non-Christians with a Christian discussion leader and be a relatively small cluster of people. This provides a safe environment for spiritual discussion and is thus an effective method of evangelism. This can be especially effective for people who may not be close to believing in God yet. We discuss 10 "laws" of seeker small groups, why they are effective, and how to run them.

The Spirit of Freedom (Part 2)

Jim Leffel
Galatians 5:16-25

Character transformation is an ongoing process that happens as we depend on the Holy Spirit's power in our lives. Developing a radical dependence on God to change us, we are able to see Him grow our ability to show sacrificial love, take joy in other's growth, and stay at peace with people. Other areas of transformation include gentleness, goodness, faithfulness, and self-control.
